BACK-COUNTRY  CAMPING   &   LODGE  COMBO  PACKAGES

Currently we have 3 camping trip options, and are finalizing plans to add 2 more trip options for 2020.

*These trips must be booked at least 90 days in advance*

 

The prices shown below for Back-country / Lodge Combo trips include your round-trip flights to and from Talkeetna, round-trip flight for all helicopter and float-plane camping trips, all meals while out hiking and at the lodge, and all necessary camping gear (tent, bed roll, sleeping bag, cooking gear).

You will need to bring all normal toiletries and clothing. We recommend you bring clothing such as: quick-dry base layers, rain gear, waterproof hiking boots with ankle support, hat, quick-dry socks & wool socks, and anything else you might want such as long sleeve shirts, gloves, sun screen, etc. 

 

Important to Note...

*You are expected to wear your own backpack that can weigh from 25 - 40 lbs depending on what you pack

*Date range for hike-out camping trips range from  mid-June – September 15

*Date range for fly-out camping trips is approximately July 7 - September 7

*All flights are round trip from Talkeetna and are included in the price of each package

Overview - This trip is perfect for anyone who wants to experience one night tent camping in the Alaskan wilderness, and then return to the lodge for 2 nights. Approximately 5 to 7 miles of hiking.

Overview – There are countless amazing locations in these mountains that you just can't get to with a bush-plane. You and your guide will be flown in by helicopter, dropped at a tiny, picturesque lake with great options for your tent site and spend 2 days exploring before getting picked up and flown back to the lodge.

5 days, 5 nights

Overview –  Fly out further then the "baby bear" trip, and get deeper into the heart of the majestic Talkeetna Mountains!  Then we set up a base camp and spend the next 3 days exploring the great outdoors.

THE  3-DAY EXPERIENCE

Details – Day 1: Fly to the lodge in a float plane at 10:00 AM.  Settle in before lunch and then pack your backpack for a night out in the wilderness.  Everyone on the camping trip is expected to pack supplies such as a sleeping bag, bed roll, water, food and clothes in one of our backpacks. On average each persons pack will weigh approximately 30 lbs. (13 kgs)  All gear is provided. You only need to bring clothing.

Day 2: return to the lodge in the afternoon from the overnight camping trip and prepare to eat a delicious dinner.  While spending two more nights at the lodge, you are free to enjoy more day-hiking, spending time out on the lake, or just relaxing at the lodge.  After breakfast on Day 4,  your return flight back to Talkeetna is usually scheduled for 10:30 AM.

THE 4-DAY

EXPERIENCE

Details - Day 1: Fly to the lodge in a float plane at 10:00 AM.  Settle in before lunch and then prepare for 2 nights of camping. We’ll get all the gear ready and head out.  Everyone on the camping trip is expected to pack supplies such as a sleeping bag, bed roll, water, food and clothes in one of our backpacks. On average each persons pack will weigh approximately 35 lbs. (16 kgs)  All gear is provided. You only need to bring clothing. 

There’s usually a better chance of seeing more wildlife on this trip as we hike a little deeper into the back country. On the morning of Day 3, we will make our way back to the lodge and get you settled into your cozy cabin. There should still be some time left in the afternoon to get in a game of horseshoes or kayak a portion of the lake before dinner. Day 4 can be spent doing anything you please. Berry picking, looking for wildlife from the deck of the lodge, whatever you like! After breakfast on Day 5, your return flight back to Talkeetna is usually scheduled for 10:30 AM.

 

THE MAMA BEAR

HELI-DROP

 

Details – Day 1: Upon arriving at the lodge via helicopter you’ll have no time to sit down.  You’ll leave everything that you don’t need for camping at the lodge and we’ll get all the necessary gear packed.  The guide along with over 100 lbs of gear will be flown in to make sure you have a comfortable base camp. After everyone arrives at the camp site and waves goodbye to the pilot, the afternoon will be spent setting up base camp and going on a afternoon hike before dinner. The next couple days are designated for exploring! Day-hiking from base camp, looking for mountain goats, dall sheep & caribou, and just enjoying nature.

 

     Depending on if you decide to stay 2 or 3 nights in the mountains, the helicopter will fly in on the morning of Day 3 or 4 to pick you and your guide up and fly back to the lodge.  The remainder of your time here at the lodge is a great chance to visit with other lodge guests from all over the world and share your memories of the expedition.  After breakfast on Day 6, your return flight back to Talkeetna is usually scheduled for 10:30 AM.
